I was living in the Perry Hall area when I started looking for my first house. I wanted to move to an area that was not as crowded and congested. I looked at a lot of townhouses in Harford County. When I saw the houses in Harford Town I knew I had found my new home. I liked the fact that I drove past farms and cows to get there and that it was a very quiet, secluded community. I was the first owner of this house and it was perfect for my needs. I loved the crown molding in the living room and the fact that the lower level was finished as a family room, and office, with a full bathroom. The fact that there is so much light in this house coupled with 9-foot ceilings made the whole house look spacious.
What are few of your favorite features?
Well, I’d have to say the kitchen is really a standout feature for me. It is very large with plenty of cabinets, lots of counter space, an island, and an eating area. The pickled oak cabinets are unique. I love to cook so I need a lot of room in a kitchen. But the best part is that the patio doors open onto a private deck and as I am cooking I can see the beautiful green grass and the woods behind my house. I love this view.
This house has great storage space too. Each bedroom has a big closet that runs the entire length of the room. And there is a linen closet, a closet under the stairs and more storage in the lower level.
One thing that differentiates my community from others is that each unit has 2 assigned parking spaces. In other neighborhoods, it can be a free-for-all. There is a lot of overflow parking too, which is really nice for visitors.
What upgrades have really enhanced your home?
I love gardening and my curb appeal is the envy of the neighborhood. I landscaped not only the front but the back too. I also wanted to change some of the builder-grade features so I replaced the bathroom faucets, lights, and mirrors, added spot lights in living room and kitchen, chair rails in master bath, office, and family room, and put privacy fencing on the decks. I also have a High-Efficiency Washer and Dryer.
What are a few things you like about your community?
Wow, where do I start? I have lived here since 2002 and I have always had great neighbors, even though there has been turnover. We have community yards sales and you will always be able to find someone to help you shovel your snow. There are a community pool and tennis court for summer fun and exercise.
The location is great! Living here is like living in the country but I am just minutes from 95 which makes it so convenient if I want to go to Harve de Grace for dinner at Tidewater Grill, into Bel Air or shopping at White Marsh. I am 5 minutes from a Target. But what is really super is the Wegman’s that is just 5 minutes away. Wegman’s is a “grocery experience” and great for a foodie like me.
There are some really good restaurants in the area. I love the authentic Mexican food at La Tolteca – get the chicken fajitas. I would also recommend dining on the patio at Riverside Pub – they have a great way with mahi-mahi.
What more would you like to tell me about living here?
Leaving here is bittersweet for me. I am looking forward to my new life but sad to leave my first house. Tell the buyer to enjoy the wildlife that lives in the woods – foxes, cardinals, and blue jays - and to look out for the rabbits that have their babies really close to the deck. I hope that this house makes someone else as happy as I have been here.
