What drew you to the property?


We were downsizing from our single family home to a condominium and were delighted to find the community of Greenhaven.  We loved the fact that this walkout condo was on the first level.  Lots of condos that we had seen had a view of the parking lot.  Here, the entire building backed up to the woods.  This particular unit was in the back of the building and was surrounded by a natural setting.  The screened patio opened onto the lawn.  It was very private and secluded.  We were used to being able to step out into our yard so finding a condo where we could open the patio door onto beautiful green lawn encircled by trees was a great transition for us.

What are a few of your favorite features?


The floor plan of this condominium is really interesting.  It has all of the features of the big houses –- open floor plan, lots of counter space in the kitchen, center island, breakfast nook, living room and dining room.  But best of all, the kitchen opens into our family room.  There is a special opening above the gas fireplace for the TV. 


There are so many rooms to live in and plenty of places to sit to enjoy the view. We can breakfast inside or enjoy our coffee on the screened patio.  Having a separate dining room is great for our holiday dinners.


A really big feature for us is that we have gas cooking. Once you have cooked with gas it’s hard to go back to electric.

What upgrades have you made to enhance your home?


This condominium was move-in ready.  We painted most of the rooms in neutral colors and added 3 ceiling fans.  In 2014, we replaced all of the kitchen appliances.  In 2015 new carpeting was installed.

What are a few things you like about your community?  


Greenhaven is a great community.  The buildings have a unique exterior – a bit art deco.  The grounds are beautifully landscaped with flowering trees in the spring.  It is a great community for walking your dog or an evening stroll.  We have both a pool and fitness center.  There is plenty of parking for everyone.


It is easy to make friends here.  There is seating outside to gather with our neighbors.  When it cools down, we take our conversation inside to our building’s library/lobby.  It’s the kind of community where we feel comfortable going next door and asking to borrow tools when we don’t have what we need.

Where do you eat and shop for groceries and other conveniences?


For groceries, we usually go to the Safeway which is just minutes away.  There is also a Walgreen’s and one of our favorites, The Dollar Store.  There is a Starbucks and a Cold Stone Creamery about 5 minutes away.  Don’t miss the Seafood Pizza with crab and lobster at the Italian Sensation.   We are 10 minutes from Bel Air and 15 minutes to 95.

What more would you like to tell us about living here?


We feel as if our condominium is one of the best-kept secrets in the area.  Our unit has views of the woods on both sides.  The windows are oversized and low.  There is plenty of natural light and we enjoy the afternoon sunshine on this side of the building.  And just look out back – birds and squirrels and deer, oh my!  Where else can you enjoy all of that and not have to mow the grass?
