If we really think about it, it was the window seat at the top of the stairway. It’s not a little seat tucked away but a grand seat where one can fully stretch out and luxuriate in the view and in the sense that there is all of the time in the world. Some would say that a large window seat is not a good use of space and unnecessary, but for us it was a symbol of how we saw ourselves inhabiting our new home – the life we intended to live. 1415 E. Macphail Road is a custom-built house with meticulous attention to the fine details and an expansive floor plan. The grand scale was perfect for our weekend house guests and lavish parties.
What upgrades have you made to enhance your home?
When we moved into our new home, the backyard consisted of grass, and only grass. There were not even steps from the house to the yard. We contracted for a beautiful free-form pool surrounded by colorful pavers and extensive landscaping. We can’t decide which is more beautiful, the pool or the landscaping. We transformed our empty backyard into a private Shangri-La. Birds love our home. Crows, Cardinals, and Blue Jays nest here.
In 2017, we replaced the 2-zone HVAC. In 2018 we refinished the hardwood floors in the dining room, family room, and kitchen. They look stunning.
What are a few of your favorite features?
We love the 2-room office suite. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and the family room and has a great view of the 17th hole. It is the perfect set-up for interviews, staff meetings, and spreading out. For anyone who likes to work from home, we cannot say enough about the value of these two rooms.
The kitchen is the gathering place for our family. The enormous china cabinet reminds of us of the houses we lived in while in Europe. The family room is right off the kitchen. We can be cooking in the kitchen and still be part of what is happening in the family room. There is a magnificent stone fireplace in the family room for cozy winter evenings. In the summer, the view of the pool beckons us to put on our suits and jump in the water.
We really appreciate our Master Bedroom Suite. The room is large with a great view of our pool with its beautiful landscaping. The bathroom has a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. There is both a walk-in closet and double closet, plenty of room for both of us.
We think one of the most interesting features of our home is the little garage within our 3-car garage. Right now, we are using it as a storage, but it would make a great garden shed too. It is large enough that it could be transformed into a shower and dressing room for the pool.
What do you like about living in area?
We often take advantage of our proximity to the Maryland Golf and Country Club. If we want to take a break in the middle of the afternoon, we can hop in the car and be on the 1st tee in 5 minutes. For our house parties, we take our guests to the club for brunch or dinner. We often run into our neighbors at the Club and those neighbors are now our friends.
We appreciate the beauty of our Glenangus community; the uniqueness of each sizable home with its custom landscaping surrounded by a spacious, well-tended lawn is a visual delight.
What hobbies do you enjoy in this area?
If you are a boater or a sailor, you will soon realize how quickly you can be skimming over the water on a summer day. In just a few minutes we can be on 95 heading to Havre de Grace or Middle River, both of which have great access to the Chesapeake Bay.
For tennis players, Maryland Golf and Country Club has both Har-Tru Courts and Hard Courts. Lessons are available, as well as a pro-shop.
We are enchanted with the crows in our tree-tops. If you know anything about crows you know they are very smart and they symbolize the great mysteries of life. If you often see crows around, pay extra attention to the messages they bring. We spend a lot of time contemplating crows.
Where do you eat and shop for groceries and other conveniences?
The number one place for grocery shopping is Wegman’s. In our opinion, why go anywhere else? It’s a grocery shopping destination! We love the food bar, the sizeable European offerings, and the variety and freshness of the produce.
If we are not dining at the Club, we make a reservation at Pairings Bistro. The menu changes frequently and has a Belgian flair. We highly recommend the Mussels served with Belgian Frites.
What more would you like to tell us about living here?
To get a sense of this house, just stand in the foyer. It’s as if you are being drawn into a painting. The turquoise pool in the back, the dining room, 2 large sitting rooms, and the library are all visible. Look up and you will see the graceful staircase to the second floor. And from this one vantage point, the house makes the statement “this is a grand and elegant house.” For anyone looking for an executive home, this will check all of your boxes.

About Alexander Necker, Real Estate Sales Consultant
I specialize in selling the Baltimore Metropolitan’s Premier Homes.
I am an Eagle Scout. I mention this because the process of becoming an Eagle Scout provided me with the foundation by which I live my life. The values of trustworthiness, integrity, and helpfulness have allowed me to become the man I am today.
The words that describe me are:
Driver of my own professional destiny
C onduit for connecting people for professional development
Devoted husband with a wonderful wife
Father to 2 beautiful children with growing college funds
Student of Finance and Investments
After graduating college and starting a career in my field of study (agronomy), I quickly rose to the position of assistant and then superintendent of private golf courses. After 17 years in the golf business, I decided it was time to change to a career where I would not be at the mercy of the uncontrollable forces of sun, wind and rain. I chose a field where I would be the master of my fate, where the hard work and the long hours to which I am accustomed would be the determinant of my success.
The primary reason I am in the real estate business is to help people. A real estate transaction is one of the largest financial transactions you will ever undertake. Everyone deserves a real estate partner that understands and appreciates that fact. My focus on integrity, trust and communication are nothing less than I would want for myself, my family or friends entering into a large financial proceeding. I am committed to being the one real estate agent that keeps my client's best interests front and center.
In real estate, I consider myself to be a true professional in the same vein as the physician, the attorney and the accountant whom you must trust with the most important assets of your life. Nothing less is acceptable.

"Alex Necker came highly recommended to us and we are delighted to write a review of his performance as our realtor.
We wholeheartedly recommend Alex to anyone seeking to buy or sell a home. With his eagerness to please and stellar competence, he made what could have been a trial (buying a home) a breeze for us. We found his demeanor most engaging. He was always cordial and personable toward us. His work ethic, diligence and promptness of service impressed us beyond measure. He treated us as though we were his only clients. His attention toward us was more that of a family member than a realtor to client. We truly felt he was our advocate, not merely serving as simply our realtor. He insisted we were aware of possible flaws with the home we ultimately decided to buy and we found his honesty refreshing. After all, no house is ever going to be perfect. He thoroughly enjoys his work and this is personified in his attentiveness and enthusiasm. Do not even consider engaging the services of any other realtor. After working with Alex, we no longer consider him as simply a realtor who made buying our new home a snap, we consider him a friend for life!"
