We were looking to move out of Baltimore City into a stable neighborhood. We discovered this amazing townhouse just outside of Bel Air. Neither one of us had ever lived in Harford County so to us it was an adventure. We had the opportunity to purchase this huge(over 2700 square feet of living space) end of group townhouse on a quiet cul de sac. We were able to select our finishes and extras and the builder threw in a whirlpool tub for our lower level full bath. We loved the open concept of the living/dining room area with its dark hardwood floors and the view from our back deck. And what a bonus! Exit 80 at Riverside opened the day after we settled on our house, cutting the commute to 95 quite a bit. After 28 years of living here, we can say our dream house is still all we thought it would be.
What upgrades have you made?
When we first moved here we had a flat back yard that just called out to be more than just dirt. We planted flowering shrubs and perennials to define our yard from our neighbor's yard and created a natural fence. We arranged a bench and interesting sculptures to enhance the beauty of the garden. We added a brick patio with a small retaining wall off the lower level family room which gave us a place to cool off on hot summer days. We were continually upgrading our landscaping in the front and side yards.
Over the years we added warm hardwood floors on the second level, replaced the roof and the windows, and replaced the existing wood deck with a maintenance free deck. We installed the white plantation shutters on the main level and in the master bedroom and just loved the overall look.
As we readied the house for sale in October 2018, we painted the entire main and upper levels in a neutral gray with crisp white trim. We love how the newly painted rooms look with the white crown molding, neutral gray walls, and dark floors.
What are a few of your favorite features?
This house is just huge. When we entertain, we can accommodate a lot of guests. With a formal dining room, breakfast room, and a center island with seating there is plenty of space for everyone. Our master bedroom is large with enough room for a sitting area and 2 big closets. We love the vanity in the master bathroom with its little seating area - perfect for putting on makeup.
This house is special because it is an end of group. It's larger than the other townhomes and has a bow window in the dining room. We have light coming in our windows all day long showcasing our hardwood floors. The way the house faces means that the sun rises in the front of the house and sets towards the back. We have beautiful sunsets here and a great view from our deck to open space and trees. Our home is quiet and secluded.
What more would you like to tell us?
We love to stay home for movie night so our favorite room in the house is the lower level family room. We have a large TV down there, a wet bar, and a wood-burning fireplace. It's perfect for snuggling in the winter on a snowy day. In the summer we can step outside to walk in our little cottage garden. We have so many great memories here and we know that the new owners will make new memories of their own.

"When my cousin recommends someone to me, I know I can trust them. This is why I had no hesitation when he put me in contact with Alex Necker. As a 23 year old and a first time home buyer, I knew very little coming into this process — my main source of information had been HGTV. Due to personal circumstances, I didn't have much outside support, so I really leaned on Alex for help. He took baby steps with me when I needed it, but he also empowered me to make important decisions on my own. As cliché as it is, I truly felt like I was Alex's only client. He was always available to me and went above and beyond what I asked of him.
One of the best examples of this happened about half way through my search. There was a condo that I had dismissed because of the street that it was on.
