We had been living in Baltimore County and could not find a house that we felt was right for us so we decided to look in Harford County. This property was such a good value, the right size for us and the location was great - close to 95 and Bel Air. We envisioned the changes that could be made to the exterior and interior that would move the house into the 21st century. We are really skilled at doing, not only, the big heavy work, but also the fine detailed work that really shows in the quality of the improvements. So we bought the house and got to work.
What upgrades have really enhanced your home?
One of the first major projects that we tackled was to improve the curb appeal of the front. We removed very large overgrown trees to show off the exterior of the house, designed and planted new landscaping and built the curved Oldcastle walls to define the front of the house. We changed the shutter color and replaced the entry door with a clear beveled center design and sidelight. If you drive down the street, our house really stands out. We replaced all of the windows and put a bow window in the front. In the back area we created distinct areas for play and relaxing. We also added the retractable awning to make using the deck a real pleasure.
The second upgrade that really makes our house distinct is the floor plan on the first level. We removed the walls that separated the living room, dining room and kitchen to open the space and create a great room. We placed a large Corian-topped center island in the kitchen and now we have the most glorious space for entertaining, not all chopped up the way it was previously. The flow of the space is excellent, the light is magnificent and the cathedral ceilings really work in this area. We love it.
Our third major project was to convert an existing closet into a master bathroom. We designed a custom-tiled walk-in shower with seating and topped the vanity with a coordinating granite. It looks so current. We are really pleased with our design concepts and the quality of the completed work.
What is your favorite feature of your house?
We love how we designed the kitchen. It’s really the little touches in a room that make it pop. The glass-tiled backsplash is really high-end and the amber pendant lights look very sophisticated. We installed lighting on top of the cabinets that looks really sharp with the cathedral ceiling.
What are a few things you really like about our community?
This is a great neighborhood. We have made friends here. There is very little traffic so it’s safe for the kids to ride their bikes and roller skate on the sidewalks. The neighbors are friendly. This community is tucked down in a little hollow so it’s quiet and calm. The common area runs along the back of our property so our yard looks bigger and private and we have extra space to spread out. Our Homeowner’s Dues are only $36/month and that covers our trash pick up.
What else do you like about the area?
Well you can’t live in this neighborhood without noticing the contrast of quiet and secluded but still close to shopping (Wegman’s, need we say more) and I-95. In just a few minutes we can be out of the neighborhood and parking at Target, Walmart, Home Goods, DSW or on our way to Bel Air with its small specialty shops. There are a variety of restaurants – our favorite is Sakura for the steak and scallops. For family activities we will go to Havre de Grace to walk along the boardwalk and we enjoy the 4th of July Carnival and Fireworks every year. Bel Air has a great Barbecue Bash in the summer and third Thursdays is designated as Girls Night Out.

About Alexander Necker, Real Estate Sales Consultant
I specialize in selling the Baltimore Metropolitan’s Premier Homes.
I am an Eagle Scout. I mention this because the process of becoming an Eagle Scout provided me with the foundation by which I live my life. The values of trustworthiness, integrity, and helpfulness have allowed me to become the man I am today.
The words that describe me are:
Driver of my own professional destiny
C onduit for connecting people for professional development
Devoted husband with a wonderful wife
Father to 2 beautiful children with growing college funds
Student of Finance and Investments
After graduating college and starting a career in my field of study (agronomy), I quickly rose to the position of assistant and then superintendent of private golf courses. After 17 years in the golf business, I decided it was time to change to a career where I would not be at the mercy of the uncontrollable forces of sun, wind and rain. I chose a field where I would be the master of my fate, where the hard work and the long hours to which I am accustomed would be the determinant of my success.
The primary reason I am in the real estate business is to help people. A real estate transaction is one of the largest financial transactions you will ever undertake. Everyone deserves a real estate partner that understands and appreciates that fact. My focus on integrity, trust and communication are nothing less than I would want for myself, my family or friends entering into a large financial proceeding. I am committed to being the one real estate agent that keeps my client's best interests front and center.
In real estate, I consider myself to be a true professional in the same vein as the physician, the attorney and the accountant whom you must trust with the most important assets of your life. Nothing less is acceptable.

I appreciate all your assistance in selling my house. You made the process so easy and so quick.
When we first met and discussed the price, I had my mind made regarding the price. After you reviewed the current market with me, I took your advice and listed it for $20,000 less than I originally thought and I am glad we did. If we had listed at my price, we would still be trying to sell it. Instead, it was under contract in 14 days with three offers. Having multiple offers was a great feeling!!!
I also wanted to let you how impressed I was with your communication. I always knew what was going on with the inspections and the buyer. Our weekly and sometimes daily phone conversations really made me feel comfortable that there weren't going to be any problems with the settlement.
